Sneak Peak: Pickles Deli Downtown

As a downtown St. Louis resident I am a big fan of all of the new development that is happening here. We are getting more and more restaurants every day, and over the weekend I got a sneak peak at the new Pickles Deli which is opening up on the corner of 7th and Olive (map). The original Pickles is located in the Central West End (map), and although it is on the list of places I need to go, I haven’t made it there yet.

The downtown location is going to feature much of the same menu and amenities as the CWE location, although the downtown location is apparently much more spacious. In addition to a large seating area, the deli will also have a dedicated takeout counter for customers who want to grab lunch on the go. Although they haven’t been installed yet, window counters will run across the front windows for additional seating (and this area will feature charging areas for laptops in case you have to work through lunch). And of course there will be WiFi.

The space is still mostly empty, so it was a little hard to get an idea of what it will look like when it opens – I’m looking forward to checking it out when it is fully stocked with food and up and running. I did get to taste some of their lovely cold cuts, pulled pork and some pastries, all of which was really tasty. Apparently Pickles will have New York style corned beef and pastrami as well, something I have been craving for a while.

Pickles Downtown is set to open in the next week or so and initially will be open Monday through Friday.
